Underground Connection

This is probably the least inviting tunnel in whole Saarbrücken.
Why I show this thing to you?

Because I'm using this 'disgustoid' at least two times a day, since it is the connection of the east part of the train station and my residential area, the Rodenhof.
Officially people are even forbidden to go through it, but since it's a shortcut to the town, everybody does (of course!).

Hey Mark, yeah I do... It feels weird sometimes, but I guess our area is quite safe, so I don't need to worry too much.
ut I tell you, this thing gives you the creeps! =o

It sure gave me the creeps when I first so the image but it makes the image even more interesting - what is the distance? why are people forbidden to go through it? What was it original built for?
* rubbing chin *
Fascinating image!

@nicolas: the tunnel is may 200m, the air smells sometimes rotten and there are some sideway tunnels, but they are barricaded.
The Area around the Trainstation has a small Tunnelsystems. IN WWII they are used as Bunkers for a nearby Uniform Fabrication Center.
This Tunnel has the funktionn to give the employers of the "Deutsche Bahn" to walk from one End of the Station to another.
But this Tunnel is used for more than 30 Years from the Citiziens of Saarbrücken, espacially the 8.000 Ones who lives on the Rodenhof.

PS: I hope you can understand my terrific english ;)

Good to know that it's a short cut but watch out if there are strange people around!

Hmmm, radian... does that mean we of Vancouver (formerly, that is, for me) have lots of weird, creepy tunnels? After all, that is where much of the earlier seasons of X-files was shot. I'll have to investigate some time. I certainly know Vancouver has its share of creepy alleys.
