German-French History

Almost 136 years ago, part of the Franco-Prussian War took place here in Saarbrücken and the surrounding areas. There was a battle taking place August 6th, when German regiments were fighting against the French coming from Spichern, a French town close to here.
The monument was build for the 7th ulan regiment (link to a picture from 1815), "Zur Erinnerung an die treue Wacht 1870" (reminding of the loyal watch 1870).
